DIP has 11 employees and 7 visiting fellows and is the only academic institution specialized in vertebrate and related biostratigraphy in Chaozhou, even in Guangdong Province. There are 3 research departments and a center:

- Vertebrate Department
- Invertebrate Department
- Paleobotany Department
- Science communication center 

A museum and a display center are under planning. 

We have a small scale permanent exhibition in Chaozhou Jinshan Experimental School (junior high of Jinshan School, first class provincial key school) for all high school students in Chaozhou.
